Education is something that affects nearly everyone at some time in their lives, whether it is as a student, parent, teacher, or taxpayer. Here is where you can look for information and statistics on school districts or colleges and universities, explore opportunities for higher education, search for financial aid, practice for a test, or do research on education topics.

Resources @ La Crosse Public Library

One of the standard resources for higher education is the six-volume College Blue Book (R 378.73 C69). The various volumes include descriptive overviews and statistics on colleges and universities, an index of degrees offered by college and subject, occupational education opportunities, financial aid, and distance learning programs.

Peterson’s publishes a variety of comprehensive and detailed guides to educational opportunities. These include Four-Year Colleges  and Graduate Schools
 
Test Preparation Guides


The library has test preparation guides for the SAT, ACT, PSAT/NMSQT, CLEP, ASVAB, and Praxis. These can be checked out for three weeks.

When the library does not have the test prep guide you need, try LearningExpress. LearningExpress Library is an interactive test preparation resource that includes practice exams for college entrance, graduate school admission, GED exam preparation, and basic skills improvement in reading, writing, and math for all ages. You get immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and an individualized analysis of your results.
